Meet William Stauffer, LSW, CCS, CADC

Bill-8_08William has led the Pennsylvania Recovery Organization Alliance (PRO窶「A) as the Executive Director ツsince 2012, and is a lifelong advocate for recovery and treatment efforts. He has been in long term recovery since age 21 and involved in efforts to help others over that entire time.

Mr. Stauffer has over 25 years clinical and administrative experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings. He served as the Program Director of the Halfway Home of the Lehigh Valley from 1999 to 2012. Mr. Stauffer is the former President of the Pennsylvania Halfway House Association, serving in that capacity from 2002 to 2007. He is a Graduate of Cedar Crest College, Summa Cum Laude and the 2002 Recipient of the Lecie G. Machell prize in Social Work. He graduated with high honors with a Masters in Social Work at Kutztown University in 2006. In 2008 Mr. Stauffer was the recipient of the Pennsylvania Recovery Organization Alliances award of the Recovery Advocate of the year.

Currently, Mr. Stauffer serves in a number of capacities within the drug and alcohol system. They include assisting in representing Pennsylvania on the national level with TCA, regionally as an Advisor to the Danya Institute Inc., on the Advisory Committee for the Central East Addiction Technology Transfer Center (Central East serving Delaware, District of Columbia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia) and across the state with DDAP Clinical Standards Committee, on the DDAP Methadone Death and Incident Review Team, chairing a Taskforce to recommend certification standards for recovery houses in Pennsylvania, as well as an appointee to the Adult Committee for the OMHSAS Planning Council among other roles he has to assist people in need. Mr. Stauffer assisted in writing the White Paper on Recovery Oriented Systems of Care for the Governor窶冱 Office, the Department of Welfare and the Department of Health. Currently he is administering a competitive national grant from SAMHSA that PRO-A was awarded to strengthen recovery efforts in Pennsylvania over the next three years.

Meet Mariテ。nnaツHorowitz

Mariテ。nna Horowitz has been the Program Coordinator for PRO窶「A since 2014. Herツprofessional background includes experience as a live-in recovery house manager for the RASE Project. ツMariテ。nna is a dedicated, goal driven individual who is motivated to change her community and the surrounding areas for the better. She is passionate about finding innovative solutions to assist people in recovery from addiction.ツThe only child of six siblings to pursue a college degree, she is currently attending Harrisburg Area Community College where she is pursuing an Associate窶冱 Degree in Social Services.ツA developing leader in the recovery movement in Pennsylvania, Mariテ。nna is passionate about helping persons find their path to recovery from addiction, to improve her community, and to grow as an advocate and as a professional in the service system.

In her position at PRO窶「A, Mariテ。nnaツis an ambassador for the organization窶冱 mission to expand recovery opportunities and eliminate stigma. In her role as the program coordinator, Ms. Horowitz disseminates information to members and organizations statewide; overseesツthe PRO窶「A website; coordinates the Recovery Institute Training Program, volunteer opportunities with various social service agencies and institutions, and the PRO窶「A Quarterly Report Newsletter. She assists with managing several grants and contracts, project development, community outreach, and strengthening our community relations and engagement.

Mariテ。nnaツ is also an active member in her community through ツvolunteerism, public speaking and as a person in recovery.ツThe ties that Mariテ。nnaツ has formed across the Harrisburg region, through her engagement with the recovery community,ツas a professional, and through her volunteer efforts in her role as the recording secretary for the Harrisburg Central Labor Council Community Services Committee provides her a vantage point to increase access to knowledge about recovery and share information across her community in many settings.



ツMeet Stephanie Hastings, BA

Stephanie is the newest addition to Pro-A, serving as the Recovery Service Community Coordinator.ツ Her passion for working with addiction and recovery is from a lived experience and goes back 35 years as she faced the struggles with a family member and later with a close friend, it was through those experiences that Stephanie knew she wanted to make a difference. Miss Hastings has 20 years experience, both clinically and administratively, in inpatient and outpatient settings working with Drug & Alcohol as well as Mental Health. She is a 1996 Graduate of Wilkes University with a BA in Psychology and a Minor in Sociology and was awarded Student-Athlete Academic Honors for four consecutive years.ツ Miss Hastings is hard-working, focused and driven and she is dedicated to strengthening community outreach and development. We are very excited to have her as the newest member of our team!
