Title: Bilingual Position –Β Substance Abuse Counselor
Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in psychology, counseling or human services (Master’s Degree preferred)
  • Minimum of one year experience, preferable in a substance abuse environment
  • Must be licensed or certified by the applicable state health regulatory or working towards a license or certification.
  • Proficient in the use of personal computers
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Successful completion of State required background check and required trainings.

Description:Β The Counselor I provides direct counseling and case manager services to patients, consisting of individual, and group services, including assessment, individualized treatment plans, counseling and aftercare services. The Counselor I will adhere to the vision and mission of the Company.

Essential Functions:

  • Maintain caseload per State Regulations
  • Assures incoming patients have psychosocial assessment an interpretive summary according to the timeline in the ARS Policies and Procedure Manual
  • Completes, with patient participation, a Preliminary Treatment Plan according to the timeline in the ARS Policies and Procedure Manual.
  • Completes a Treatment Plan Review and update for each patient after completion of the Comprehensive Treatment Plan according to the timeline in the ARS Policies and Procedure Manual
  • Prepares an aftercare transition plan for all patients at the earliest possible time and to review prior to discharge
  • Documents each individual, group, case management or other patient contacts by way of progress note written in β€œDAP” formula in accordance with ARS policy manual standards.
  • Ensures all paperwork is filed into patient charts in a timely manner that meets ARS policy manual standards
  • Completes all required patient documentation within timelines outlined in the ARS Policies and Procedures manual, and in accordance with state and regulatory standards
  • Completes peer audits in accordance with ARS Policies and Procedures.
  • Completes individual supervision with Supervisor per State Regulations.
  • Provides evidence-based and other approved counseling techniques and interventions to facilitate patient success in treatment
  • Involves all patients on caseload in person-centered treatment
  • Provides appropriate interventions to facilitate engagement of non-compliant patients
  • Participates in weekly treatment team meetings and clinical trainings as scheduled
  • Facilitates psycho educational and process-oriented groups as assigned on a monthly basis
  • Participates in weekly on-call rotation, including on-site, half-day coverage of Saturday dosing hours
  • Maintains awareness of receptionist responsibilities and works with other staff to cover for Office Manager in emergency situations
  • Completes tasks assigned by Clinical Supervisor or Executive Director as needed
  • Completes initial orientation and training/CEU’s in the first year of employment and every year thereafter within timelines outlined in the ARS Policies and Procedures manual, and in
  • accordance with state and regulatory standards
  • Be proficient with State Licensure Standards, CARF Standards, 42 CFR and HIPAA standards and Company policies
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Clinical Supervisor
