Qualifications:ツMaster窶冱 Degree preferred from an accredited college with a major in chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling, nursing (with a clinical specialty in human services) or other related field, which includes a practicum in a health or human service agency, preferably in a drug and alcohol setting. Or a Bachelor窶冱 Degree from an accredited college with a major in chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling, nursing (with a clinical specialty in human services) or other related field and 1 year of clinical experience (a minimum of 1,820 hours) in a health and human service agency, preferably in a drug and alcohol setting. If a person窶冱 experience did not take place in a drug and alcohol setting, the individual窶冱 written training plan shall specifically address a plan to achieve counseling competency in chemical dependency issues.

Position requires reliable transportation, valid driver窶冱 license, and car insurance limits of $100,000/$300,000 bodily injury liability. This position requires background checks to be completed.

Description:ツPosition will be responsible for the effective facilitation and implementation of the All Stars Program to Tarrant County youth in grades 6-8. This position is also responsible for the implementation of the program goals, documentation, and strategic plan objectives as outlined by grant requirements. Additionally, staff providing services should address and resolve the need for additional services and resources expressed by participants in a professional and timely manner. The agency requires employees to demonstrate ethical behaviors by adhering to established professional codes of ethics in order to maintain professional standards and safeguard the best interests of the individual(s) served. Also, it is imperative that the employee adhere to federal, state, and agency regulations regarding alcohol and other drug use services by following appropriate procedures to protect the participant(s) rights.

Summary of Position:ツThe Prevention Specialist will be a primary service provider and will meet all the Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs requirements for the Counselor position. This individual will help to provide evidence-based services to young people in order for them to recognize the harmful consequences of high-risk substance use and/or addiction. The Prevention Specialist must develop community wide response to growing substance use issues among young people and their families. Also, the Prevention Specialist must provide young people at high risk of addiction with protective factors, which will help them to make positive decisions concerning substance use.
