Sage’s Army

In the depths of his anguish, Carmen Capozzi found a profound purpose to honor his son’s memory and make a difference in the lives of others. Born in Greensburg, Pa. in 1966, Carmen Capozzi was a devoted husband and a loving father to his son, Sage. Tragedy struck Carmen’s life when Sage fell into the dark clutches of drug addiction. On a fateful day on March 5th, 2012, Carmen’s worst nightmare became a stark reality when he received the devastating news that Sage had lost his life to an accidental drug overdose.

Grief-stricken and grappling with unimaginable loss, Carmen faced a crossroads: succumbing to despair or finding a way to turn his pain into something meaningful. On March 15, 2012, just 10 days later, Carmen Capozzi founded “Sage’s Army,” a non-profit organization dedicated to helping individuals struggling with addiction.

Sage’s Army set out on a mission to raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse, provide education on addiction prevention, and offer support to those seeking recovery. Through community outreach programs, Carmen and his team worked tirelessly to combat the stigma surrounding addiction and foster a compassionate environment where individuals could seek help without judgment. The organization’s efforts extended to schools, rehab centers, community events, and statewide advocacy, where they shared personal stories of addiction, recovery, and loss. Sage’s Army not only offered emotional support but also facilitated access to treatment resources, counseling, and rehabilitation services for those battling addiction.
